The Texas National Guard has gone rogue under the command of Governor Greg Abbott. Mirroring the Confederate's Theory of Secession, Abbott asserts his state's supposed right to take full control of the border away from the federal government so that he can wage a bloody war against immigrants at the crossing (and anyone who helps them, including fellow soldiers, according to Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt). The Eagle Pass Standoff, as it's being called, truly kicked off after the Supreme Court ruled that the Texas National Guard had to give border access back to Border Patrol to remove concertina wire that endangers immigrant lives, which was placed by the rogue National Guard troops. Texas has, so far, refused to comply with the demands from the federal government.
Currently: the Texas National Guard is violating their loyalty to the rest of the military and forcibly blocking the federal agents from resuming border duties under the threat of violence. In the midst of the conflict, three immigrants have already lost their lives: a woman and two children. 25 Republican governors have signed on with Abbott's rebellion, with some contributing their own National Guard troops. The echos of the American Civil War are hard to ignore as this constitutional crisis continues to escalate.
Adding fuel to the fire, a coalition of far-right extremists and militants have taken it upon themselves to organize a convoy, dubbed "Take Our Border Back," to bring in reinforcements to the Texas National Guard at Eagle Pass.
Published here are the most recently updated chat logs from the official Telegram and Discord group chats listed on the "Take Our Border Back Convoy" website by the primary organizers. While the initial conversations stressed that their political activity at Eagle Pass and beyond should remain peaceful, the attitudes rapidly changed following a massive influx of chatroom members joining in from across the nation, with one user even openly admitting their desire to perform extrajudicial executions of immigrants.
