Let’s hope everyone has seen the COVID-19 death rate breakdown by ethnicity and poverty level in Los Angeles County. According to the Los Angeles County Public Health report from January 2, 2021: white people have the SMALLEST mortality rate of all ethnicities. Black and brown demographics are being hit the hardest, in a demonstrably more severe capacity than white people in Los Angeles.
If you are Black in Los Angeles, the rate of mortality from COVID-19 is nearly twice the COVID-19 mortality rate of white people. If you are Hispanic, that rate goes up to nearly TRIPLE the mortality rate of white people.
We can also see how increase in poverty surroundings has a dramatic correlation to higher death rates from COVID-19. So when you see the statistics of 90+ people dying in Los Angeles every day: remember that it’s mostly impoverished individuals dying due to lack of adequate healthcare access.
The United States is the epicenter of Coronavirus in the world. And Los Angeles is the epicenter of Coronavirus in the nation. Los Angeles city officials provide a perfect example of how government officials in this nation are failing at a pandemic response in a way that specifically KILLS racial minorities and those in poverty at a higher rate than white and/or rich individuals.
This is not an accident.
On July 4, 2020, a top Trump official stated in an internal memo: “we want them infected.”
The Health and Human Services Science Advisor for the Trump Administration, Paul Alexander, stated:
“Infants, kids, teens, young people, young adults, middle aged with no conditions etc. have zero to little risk….so we use them to develop herd… we want them infected…”
If this country ISN’T trying to weaponize the COVID-19 response in order to inflict higher death rates upon minorities and people living in poverty, it’s certainly an interesting coincidence that this outcome just happens to be the actual impact their response seems to have.
